Mumbai: A deep depression in Bay of Bengal indicates monsoon may revive after a lull. The phenomenon is leading to a wet spell in the eastern states. Jharkhand and neighbouring areas have enjoyed good rains due to the advance of the monsoon in the north-westerly direction. Director of Central Weather Observatory Medha Khole said on Monday that the West Coast enjoyed good rains and the wet spell could continue for another 2 to 3 days. Country recorded overall 23 per cent deficit in rainfall upto September 2. But the phenomenon that is showing signs of revival of monsoon could make up the deficit to some extent, she said. Medha said that the monsoon’s direction in current month would decide the prospects of rainfall in the northern states.
