Whats Going on at the General Reference Desk?
In our endless quest to provide better service to patrons as they first come through the gates, the General Reference Desk has been trying out a new “pilot project” since December. You may have noticed the laptops set up at a table near the Desk. This guarantees that we’ll have a place to help patrons, even when the Infocommons is full. It also allows us to repeatedly work with the patron who may need more in-depth help. We’ve moved out of the “testing” part of the project, and have moved on to “evaluation.” The pilot project generated lots of buzz and a lot of feedback from library staff and patrons alike, so a task force has been established to sort through it all.
