Whats causing uneven acceleration in my 2003 VW Jetta 1.8 Turbo?

It seems to jump forward and then back right when the turbo kicks in at 1,800 RPM. It’s never a problem with full thottle, but I’ve been trying to drive gently to save gas. I’m thinking either mass air flow sensor or bypass valve, but don’t want to bring it in. A: Take it to a shop! It sounds like a MAF sensor, but so many things can cause lurching. I know it sucks to pay for diagnostics but it’s cheaper than throwing parts at it & hoping you get lucky. Good luck. PS Mabey you should listen to XUSAAAgent Because like I said just tossing parts at it is a great place to start! BTW If you have a bad coil BIG RECALL! Repalcing them by the truck load for free on most cars!
