Whats causing my potted dwarf Alberta spruces to turn brown?
Assuming that your trees are being watered and cared for properly, it’s likely they are being attacked by spider mites. Mite populations tend to explode during hot, dry weather, and this species is a favorite target. When mites feed on the needles, they literally suck out all life fluids; thus, the browning. Wash your plants with a forceful stream of water every other day for the next week or so, (you may wish to shield the soil to avoid overwetting). That should help eliminate these pests. Soapy water and Kelthane also help control mites.
