What’s an average salary range for a year-long internship or entry-level job?
Meghan: Maybe about $8.50 an hour/$20,000 a year. Most people in sports start out with low salaries. If you want to make a lot of money, this isn’t the industry for you but if you’re passionate about sports, it’s a great place to work and it’s completely worth it. How did you deal with adjusting your life and that salary? JP: I was able to get another part-time job and piece jobs together and many of our interns do similar things. It’s tough taking classes, and juggling part-time jobs. I outweighed the opportunity, and I figured out a way for it to work. Meghan: Budget your money and time. It was something I felt passionate about so I found ways to make it work. At the Phillies, I know that I get dinner for free on nights I work so that’s something I counted on. I was lucky that I made overtime when I started but the reality is that you’re going to have to prioritize. You probably aren’t going to be able to do a lot of the things some of your friends are doing. You may have to cut back
