Whats an Activation Key?
An activation key is a unique 16-digital alpha numeric code that distinguishes your Untangle Server from another, much like a MAC address. To determine your activation key, from the Untangle Server, go to Config > System Info tab > Version. If you purchased your Untangle Server hardware from Untangle, your Untangle Server is preconfigured with this key; it also appears on a white label on the chassis. If you installed your Untangle Server yourself, your Untangle Server fetches an activation key when it connects to the Internet. • If you reinstall your Untangle Server, you will delete the activation key. Upon connecting to the Internet, your Untangle Server fetches a new activation key. Your old activation key immediately becomes inactive. • If you reset to factory defaults, your Untangle Server saves its activation key.
