Whats all the fuss about hand made vs. CNC / machine made?
This is the guitar equivalent of Hatfield vs. McCoy. Large guitar manufacturers use computer controlled milling machines for as many operations as possible. This just makes good sense in their world because building that many of the same guitar in a short period of time requires speed, precision and reproducability. There is still a fair amount of human interaction required to complete these guitars, they just don’t pop out the end of an assembly line completed. Many people will handle one of these guitars before it is complete. On the other side of the coin, hand crafted guitars such as mine are still made using power tools, but I am the only person working on your guitar. I also take the time to make small adjustments for variations in wood grain, weight etc. As you can imagine, mass produced guitars are all precisely the same in terms of shape and hardware locations, but the wood that was used to create them is not identical. No two guitars off an assembly line will have the same we
