Whats after the Root canal?
They will open up the tooth and scrape clean the insides of the roots with a long, thin drill bit. They will take x-rays during the process to make sure that everything is removed. After that, it really depends on the state of your tooth what will happen next. Normally, we stuff the tooth with a temporary filling. A week to a few weeks later, the patient comes back adn we check to make sure everything is still cleaned out. The crown is glued in place. You can’t really just fill the tooth up with amalgam. You need these teeth to e secure enough to survive the next X-number is years in your mouth. A tooth that is filled in such a way wouldn’t have any strength. You say you may not need a root canal, and that’s good. We can’t tell sometimes until we get in there. We can see the cavity on the x-ray, but sometimes it’s not 100% clear if the cavity has broken into the roots. PS. You can skip the crown like the guy above, but it’s really the opossite of the smart thing to do.
