Whats a yuppie?
Yuppy is a term that first came in to use in the 70s. It is derived from the initials Y.U.P. which stands for Young Urban Professional. Hippies of the era where all about love and peace and were opposed to materialism and greed of conspicuous consumption. So, to them, the term yuppie was a put-down against those who “sold out” and young and wealthy. It probably has less negative connotation these days.
