Every vehicle produced since 1981 has a unique vehicle identification number, or VIN. This 17-character serial number can be found on the driver’s side of the dashboard where it meets the windshield. Although this field is optional when creating an ad, we recommend including it whenever possible. Some prospective buyers like to have a VIN so that they can research a vehicle’s history and make sure it doesn’t have a salvage title.
