The UTR (Unique Taxpayer Reference) is the reference number under which a person is registered as self-employed in the UK and you cannot work as a self-employed person without one. You’ll get a UTR when you get your CIS registration. If you’re self-employed we’ll need your UTR to claim your UK tax rebate.
