Whats a shoe-shine, related to hairdressing services?

Well I used to work in a barber shop many years ago. One of the services offered was a shoe shine. Going back to the days when you could get a haircut, facial, shave etc. This is a really popular service in Texas where I’m from. Think cowboy boots, country & western nightclub sort of thing. I worked as a shine girl for a while-it was good money and I met lots of interesting people.
