Whats a Rogaine, versus a Classic orienteering event?
In Rogaine, strategy is involved to plan your root choice to get to as many check points as you can in 4 hours. Participants start at the same time. For the Classic Predetermine course there will be staggered start of 1 minute intervals. Controls are connected on the map and you must visit them in order. Each category has different courses. Beginners have easy, Intermediate -somewhat difficult, and Advanced very Challenging. Fastest time with all controls is the winner in each category. 2. Can you do all these events without running, or is that missing the point entirely? – my knees are sensitive to too much running, but I love the challenge of orienteering in the outdoors anyway, just at a slower pace. Many people do it just for leisure, we call it map hiking. Set your own pace! Some times walking is better because you do not make mistakes. That is the beauty of Orienteering. Do it smart, to the best of you ability and enjoy yourself.
