What’s a Notice of Assessment (NOA)?
This is what comes back from the Australian Tax Office (ATO) with your refund. It shows how much you were refunded. It can be a very interesting comparing what the ATO refunded you to what your tax agent gave you- this equals their fee (and is not always how much they’ll tell you it would be!) You can order your own NOA from the ATO. Write to them at: ATO, GPO BOX 9845, Sydney, 2000. You’ll need to give them your full name, date of birth, tax file number and address for them to post your NOA to.
