Whats a good white icing recipe for decorative cakes?

This is a basic Butter cream recipe that I use on all my cakes! 1 cup crisco or shorting 2 lbs powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/3 cup water If you have a kitchen aid mixer it helps so much but you don’t have to. Just make sure to add the powdered sugar in slowly or else it will be all over your kitchen. Adding butter to your icing will give it a yellowish hue. I have been decorating cakes for over 10 years now and trust me this is the best icing recipe you can get when it comes to decorating. Also, this amout does about one character cake but if you have any left over it will store in a cool dark place for up to 6 months. Oh and one more hint make sure that you don’t use liquid food dye. It will thin out your icing and the colors airn’t bright enough. Use wilton gel icing colors you can get them at any craft store. Good luck and have fun!
