Prepare, prepare, prepare. It’s definitely all about research. The thing I hear most often from recruiters these days is that they want to know why a student wants that specific job. It’s not enough to go into a Goldman Sachs (GS ) interview and tell them you want to go into investment banking. You have to go in there and tell them why you want to work for Goldman Sachs and not Merrill Lynch (MER ). Then you have to make that case.
