To answer this accurately you need to tell me what type of reel you have weather it be spinning or a conventional reel. If it be a conventional there should be a star shaped dial next to the handle spin it backwards and it will loosen the drag tension forward will tighten, for a spinning reel there will be a dial on the top of the spool and again its a righty tighty lefty loosey. The cast line which is actually called the leader should be atached via a three way swivel with a snap for the sinker and roughly 24″ inch leader with a hook at the business end.
