Whats a good martial art to learn for close quarter combat?
Krav Maga is a good bet. Keep in mind the teacher counts for a lot. It’s also a good idea to learn how to box. They don’t call it the “Sweet Science” for nothing. You’ll learn how to hit someone hard and fast, and how not to get hit. The training is usually good no matter where you go, too. If you defend yourself from some bozo taking a swing at you and you use some serious Krav Maga (or Kampfringen, jiu-jutsu, whatever) combat grappling on him and maim him for life, the court might not look at that as a “reasonable response”. If you pop him in the kisser and knock him out cold, then you’re probably going to have an easier time explaining things to the police. If you’re lucky, you’ll learn some “dirty boxing” at your gym, just in case you’ve got to use it outside of the ring.
