Whats a forging?
A forging is a piece of metal that has been formed, usually, but not always heated, into a shape through the application of pressure. Deformation produces a wrought structure. Note that this is different from the casting process in which metal is liquefied, and then poured into a mold which dictates its shape when cooled. Deformation produces a wrought structure with improved properties and strength. Forged metal parts, or forgings, can be found in applications too numerous to list.
