Whats a First Cut, and whats a Final Cut?
A First Cut is your best storyboards, animatics, and animations you create within the first round of the Competition, which runs from July 15, 2009 through September 2, 2009. A “First Cut” is a work that the animator has made as detailed and visually developed as he or she chooses to make it. This means that the animator should be doing his or her best to show us what their Final Cut might entail. The animator can use character designs, color modules, storyboards, animation tests, full animation-whatever he or she feels will make us stand up and want to see more. After the Five Finalists are chosen, they are given until November 18,2009, to work on and finish their First Cut into a Final Cut.During this second phase, final animations-complete animation suitable for television-are accepted from non-Finalists for the Wildcard Finalist spot and a shot at the Grand Prize.
