Whats a comfortable winter or summer setting on a heat pump thermostat?
In winter, find a temperature comfortable for your home and then leave it there. Properly installed and maintained systems should provide heating comfort between settings of 68 and 74. Raising it as little as ½-1F may cause the backup heat to come on, increasing your energy use. Likewise, it’s not recommended to push the thermostat back at night because raising it in the morning will bring on the backup heat source, using more energy than you might have saved during the night. Only push the setting back during the winter if you will be gone for more than a few days.
