Carnauba wax is derived from the leaves of the carnauba palm. The leaves exude a yellow / white wax substance, as a way of preventing the tree from dehydrating due to the equatorial climate where they are found in Brazil. Around September each year, a few leaves from each Copernica Cerifera (South American wax palm) tree are cut off, and the carnauba wax is thrashed from the leaves, it is then collected and shipped worldwide, for vaious uses, but mainly for use in car waxes, and makeup.
