What year were black women allowed to vote?
Black women were allowed to vote the same year that other women were allowed to vote in 1920. The nineteenth amendment allowed individuals to vote without being discriminated against for their gender. The fifteenth amendment allowed more equality in the voting process, stating, “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.” Ratified in 1870, this amendment allowed non-whites to participate in the voting process.
