The battles that made up whhat is sometimes referred to as the American Revolution (and is other times referred to as the American War of Independence) are usually stated to have started April 19, 1775 with Lexington and Concord (although their were armed confrontations sometimes called the Powder Alarms well before that date) and ended with the British srrender at Yorktown on Acotober 19, 1781, but it wasn’t until the Treaty of Paris (September, 1783) that the war formally came to an end.
