What would you offer to N.C. Baptists as second vice president of the Baptist State Convention (BSC)?
My emphasis is positive, visionary leadership from the perspective of a loyal Southern Baptist. I believe N.C. Baptists are at a significant crossroad with the developments of the Committee of 20 and the election of a new executive director. I would like to assist the president as he leads our state toward a stronger emphasis on evangelism, missions, stewardship and church growth in North Carolina and throughout the world. I was born in North Carolina, came to Christ through a Southern Baptist church in North Carolina, attended a Baptist college in North Carolina and served three churches for 20 years in North Carolina. To which of the two identifiable groups — conservatives and moderates — do you more closely relate? I am a conservative. I am friendly with men and women in both camps, and I respect the right of each Baptist to interpret the scripture under the authority of the Holy Spirit.
