What would Thomas Jefferson say about the influence of religion in govt and 21st century culture warriors?
Jefferson was a Deist, very upset with the slimy crackpots of the protestant religious right of his day and their revolting and oppressive insanity, much like Pat Robertson and the neo-Nazi lying scum maggots of today. Deists are NOT, strictly speaking, Christians, albeit they accept the Bible, which is a difficult thing for the scuzzoids of the far right to comprehend. It boils down to, their opinion is that “God” as a construct no longer plays an active part in daily life. Not that it matters.
