What would stop SCO from coming after BSD like they are coming after Linux?
First thing is I don’t think SCO will be sucessful in their attempts but courts are funny things sometimes. BSD has already been through the lawsuits to clear itself of the legal tangles in the early 90’s. BSDi was formed as a commercial company and distributed the original freely available source plus 6 other files. AT&T ended up suing BSDi and UCBerkley over this issue. The final settlement involved a little code rewrite and thus was born 4.4BSD-Lite.
