What would Pak do if Kashmir decided for independance from both India and Pakistan?
Does that mean independance of Kashmir which USA probably would like to its own detriment in the long run since the Taliban and the Al Quida would like nothing better than another state to spread their wings. Pakistan wants the wishes of the Kashmiri people unless they choose independance in which case they would keep their part of Kashmir without any determination of the wishes of the people like they do in Baloochistan. India is not a dupe and USA must understand that Kashmir agreed to be part of India with Shaikh Abdulla then the most prominent person a party in the process. Later the Shaikh dithered when the Nehru cabinet did not give him any role in the Indian politics and shut him out. Shaikh had ambitions like Nehru and they were imcompatible with each other. This type of politics has changed Kashmir like it has elsewhere in Pakistan and India. But Pak has managed to keep Kashmir hot despite severe losses along the way and our own incompetance to resolve it once for all.
