At the beginning of the therapy experience, the therapist starts by getting to know the client. The therapist will provide a series of questions to the client intended to elicit information about the client. These questions are also designed to begin to develop goals for the therapy experience and to assist the client and the therapist in determining how they will know that the therapy experience is complete. Questions would include information on the client’s basic demographic data, details on the nature and scope of the current problem, ideal solutions(s) to the current problem, and an evaluation of the client’s ability and comfort level with communicating during the therapy sessions.
