What would LD 1418 do?
Maine has recognized the right of sick and dying patients suffering from certain medical conditions to use marijuana since 1999. LD 1418 does not break new ground for medical use of marijuana in Maine. LD 1418 is designed to enhance the regulation and oversight of medical marijuana used pursuant to Maine’s existing medical marijuana law. The proposal also expands the allowable conditions under which patients may use marijuana to include three additional debilitating conditions. The main purpose of the bill, however, is to create a regulated state supply system for medical marijuana and to reduce reliance on illicit sources.
