What would happen if there was gravity in outer space?

There IS gravity in outer space. The reason astronauts are weightless when travelling in space (for example orbiting the earth) is because they and their spacecraft are both travelling at the the same speed, and any gravtational or centrifugal forces exerted on the spacecraft are exerted equally on the astronauts. When inorbitt, both craft and crew are effectively in free-fall. If there genuinely was no gravity, satellites and spacecraft would not be able to orbit the earth – they’d fly off into the further reaches of space. The same applies to the moon orbiting the earth – it too would fly off, never to be seen again. Ditto the earth revolving around the sun. And the sun remaining part of our galaxy, which is held together by the forces of gravity. There is nowhere in the entire universe entirely free of the effects of gravity Zara W – don’t apologise, for heaven’s sake!
