What would happen if the earths rotation was reversed?

If it had started out going in the other direction, I suspect things would be much as they are now, except that the sun would rise in the west, etc. If you are talking about some cataclysmic event that reverses the earth’s rotation, this would surely end virtually all life on the planet. At the equator, the earth is spinning at just about 1000 miles per hour. If the spin were changed to 1000 miles per hour in the other direction, the net effect for people and objects, including water, near the equator would be that the earth would suddenly jump away from them at 2000 miles per hour. The observed velocity would diminish as you move to the poles, but would still be fast enough to destroy about everything. What woud happen with bodies of water would make the worst tsunamis look like a faint ripple in your fish tank.
