What would happen if the earths atmosphere vanished?

SPOILER WARNING: EVERYONE DIES Ok, assuming that you mean it vanishes all at once, and the magnetosphere is unaffected, and that it just disappears into nothing, as opposed to gravity breaking for a second and it all rushing out into space. The most likely thing that would happen would be that those of us who are in the middle of the day will get really hot fairly fast since that helpful ozone isn’t absorbing UV rays anymore. The people in the nighttime would be very cold, since the greenhouse effect has failed and heat can escape the earth more readily. Of course, without atmosphere, we’re exposed to the vacuum of space. Now, for those of us not suffocating yet, we’re going to be really hurting as the gases in our intestines (and lungs, if we didn’t exhale immediately) begin expanding rapidly. Here’s where our time of day really comes into effect. If we’re in the daytime, if we’re not in really awesome radiation gear, we’re going to getting radiation sickness fairly quick. Anyone not
