What would happen if the earth stopped rotating?

If Earth stopped rotating, all life on it would eventually perish because of the unequal heating effects – with the Sun heating one half of Earth – while the other half ceased receiving sunlight. Too, photo-synthesis would be affected, causing massive drop-off in food reserves, and mass famine. Monstrous storms would also occur- because of the unequal heating effects- as well as much large than normal tides- and possible mammoth earthquakes. If the Earth stopped rotating, no one would want to live on it.
