What would happen if the cerebral cortex was destroyed?
The cerebral cortex controls many important features of behavior such as executive thinking, language, senses, among others. While it is probably unlikely that a person could survive such procedure, especially without damaging the inner brain, he or she would pretty much become vegetative to say the least. Lobotomy, or the bisection of the frontal lobe, is only one cut and it can leave people in vegetative states.
