What would happen if i used RIT dye to dye normal blue jeans ?

If you dye your blue jeans with Rit dye or a higher quality dye, the white threads will turn the color of the dye, and so will any places on the jeans that have worn white. However, the blue parts will dye whatever color you get by mixing with blue. For example, red dye over blue jeans will give a mixture of red threads in one direction and purple threads in the other. Green dye on blue jeans will give green threads in one direction and blue-green in the other. Since dye is transparent, it does not cover up the original color, it just mixes with whatever’s there already. Rit dye is not a very good choice for dyeing blue jeans or anything else which will be washed many times. It bleeds in the laundry and fades quickly. A better choice would be Tulip One Step Fashion dye (sold in most crafts stores), Dylon Permanent dyes (sold in Joann’s fabric stores, among other places) or Procion dyes (sold in very good crafts stores and by mail order). These are fiber reactive dyes which stay bright
