What would happen if i got a credit card under the age of 18?
No lecture, it’s just a bad idea. In the application you certify that the information you submit is accurate, providing false information constitutes fraud and if discovered down the line may result in serious problems (although prosecution is unlikely it is possible). Realistically it may never get that far. As you have NO credit now any card issuer may require employment verification (either contacting your employer or obtaining copies of your paystubs) AND verifying your identity (which would require identification showing your date of birth). Assuming you managed to get the card anyway, your credit report would now show the FALSE date of birth as your actual date of birth, and any applications for credit made later would likely be red flagged as the information doesn’t match. A prepaid card is your best bet right now, even if the fees are irritating.
