What would happen if a girl did a boys variation in ballet?
I think they wouldn’t accept it or if they did, they wouldn’t like it. This is classical ballet. Physically girls cannot do as well as the men in jumps and turns. It has to do with how we are built. There are many things you do that we cannot do as well too. @ Lacey- That video link was terrible. @JenGen- Bourne’s fabulous Swan Lake is totally masculine in the moves. Male leaps, jumps and turns. Nothing a female would or could do. That is not the original choreography or even close to it. It is entirely re-staged. I am not saying that you cannot take the music from a male variation and choreograph an entirely different piece suitable for a female dancer. The asker was talking about dancing the male variation with traditional choreography.
