What would cause the 24 Frame telecine to abort often?

Make sure the TLC is configured for 24 Frame operation and the primary sync reference is 24 frames. The telecine should be set to run at the “locked” speed. This would be 23.98 or 24.00 depending upon the video sync rate. Make sure the Film-A *PARK setting is zero “0”. Since all telecines are actually controlled by a color corrector (da Vinci or other), make sure the video reference to the color corrector is present that closely matches the frame rate of the telecine. Commands sent to the telecine must be closely timed to the telecine video and frame rate or lock up consistency will be compromised We have seen a situation where a da Vinci color corrector was controlling a telecine in a “Pre-Programmer” mode, meaning no video input to the color corrector. Without this video reference, commands to the telecine are not timed. This can cause unreliable processing of play commands from the TLC. Feeding some sort of reference will improve this.
