Daddy is right on the money, except a motor repair shop can replace this centrifugal switch. The capacitor is designed to give the motor a voltage boost when it starts. Once the motor comes up to speed, the switch opens the CIRCUIT and allows the motor to run on line voltage. I have repaired these switches. What you need to do is open the motor, and clean the switch contact with emery cloth.
