What would cause a SCSI drive to fail to spin up when attempting to start a copy operation?

0

If a drive fails to spin up, an error message will be displayed indicating “Failed to Detect Drive”. To correct this check the following: a. Verify that the power and data cables are properly connected. b. Verify that the drive properly functions in a PC. c. Verify that the Motor Start Function jumper is properly set on the drive. The jumper should be configured to allow the motor to spin up when DC power is applied. The error may occur if the jumper is set so that the motor spins up only upon receiving a SCSI Start command. Some drives may designate this jumper as “Auto Spin”, or “Auto Start”, or “Delay Spin”.
