What would be wrong about building a border fence across the US-Mexico Border as a Stimulus project?
I lived in Mexico for 6 years and disagree with this idea for several reasons: First, at this point with the economy the way that it is, it doesn’t make sense to be so worried about immigration. Mexican people are getting laid off just like Americans and are returning home. I have several friends whose relatives turned themselves in and got a free ride home. Secondly, the problem with illegal immigration is not just the need for more border patrol. Mexicans can also get visas legally, visit the US, and just never go home. No one goes looking for them. Many people get into the US this way on a ‘student’ visa, and they never return home. Also, there may be a certian amount of corruption on the border which allows Mexicans to enter and no wall could fix that. Finally, a lot of comparisons have been made (in Mexico) to the wall that the us has been building and the berlin wall. I know it’s totally not the same thing, but Mexico and the US do a lot of trade, and I really think that it would
