What would be the recommended filling for a pet bed I am about to make?”
I have two very active large indoor/outdoor dogs that tend to get dirty no matter how much I wash them. The beds in their kennel and in the house are both filled with cedar chips. There are several advantages of cedar chips. They are soft and smell good, they are very porous so they absorb moisture very well, and best of all they are a natural flea and tick repellant. There are some others, like plicatic acid, that can cause allergic reactions. These studies were primarily done on exposure in wood mills. So don’t let them scare you. I personally have never heard of, or had any problems in the 30+ years I have been rai
