What would be the most appropriate punishment for NRL clubs that bring the game into disrepute?
I’m actually astounded that the NRL handed out such a punishment as the NRL is 50% owned by News Limited who also own the Storm, they have always been a team that is known as the “protected species” and to see the NRL give them a punishment like that is very satisfying. As for whether the punishment was sufficient, i’d have to say it was. Salary cap breaches that have extended over many years and have exceeded cap limits by a large amount deserved to be punished severly and the loss of two premierships, three minor premierships and not being able to receive any competition points for 2010 is a very sufficient penalty. The club will be struggling after this with prize money of $1.1 million ordered to be handed over as well as a fine of $500,000 could we be seeing the end of the Melbourne Storm as a franchise in the NRL? because the Storm are located in a city where AFL is the major sport and no doubt the Storm will have lost many supporters aswell as the fact that who will want to go an
