Lleylandi are the quickest screening trees but can grow up to four feet (120cm) per year. If you want to stay on the right side of your neighbours keep them to a six to eight foot height when they will become quite dense. Make sure that they have plenty of water in the spring and summer and watch out for the parasite which is currently infesting them and making the foliage wilt brown – they look as though they are dying but after treatment they will recover. We have a mix of both dark green and very light green lleylandi based on a five dark followed by two light trees so the hedge looks interesting all year.
