First of all make sure to purchase a MIDI device which can be attached via USB to your computer, as otherwise you would need to have MIDI ports available. If you produce beats mostly, I would not advise you to purchase a MIDI keyboard, but instead a MIDI device with velocity sensitive pads. Korg, AKAI and M-Audio for example create such MIDI devices. You can also purchase a MIDI keyboard which has velocity sensitive pads as well, then you have both keys as well as pads in one device. The pads are often smaller then though, but that might not be a problem. Give it a try in a music shop to see if a combined device would be your thing. Any brand USB MIDI device would be fine basically, but I would advise you to purchase from a respectful brand as it will be a more quality device which will last you for years, better supports, better drivers, et cetera.
