What would be the advantages/disadvantages of legalizing drugs?

0

Some of the advantages to legalizing drugs would be that they would be able to place a tax on all drugs, which could help with state deficits and spending. If you have a tax on drugs, you can lower other taxes that apply to all people. Other advantages would include less crowded prisons, more room for those that commit serious violent and victim-based crimes rather than drug use which is a victim-less crime in itself. LSD used to be introduced in Psychology as a way to help patients cope with stress that was induced during Vietnam. Imagine the ways we could help people today with psychotherapy lead by a trained doctor. There will also be more job opportunities opened as their will be stores, stores needing to be constructed, licenses pharmacists to dispense some of the drugs, and people to grow the drugs. Disadvantages would be that a higher amount of the population can become addicted to the substance, although the people who decided they weren’t going to do drugs will still continue
