• What are the hardware dependencies? • How would the many security updates be handled? • How often would updates be applied to workstations? • Is Internet Explorer part of the operating system or is it an application? • How do we intend to use WinInstall? • What options do we have for workstations management (i.e. SMS, Tivoli, locally written solution using Perl and / or RSH)? What would be included in the RIS server? The general consensus was that the RIS image should be kept as small as possible. The main concern is bandwidth and speed of loading the RIS image onto new workstations. One item that has been noted is the Resource Kit? Should this be fully installed? The group agreed that only the components that are required should be installed in this case the KixStart scripting package.
