What would be appropriate dress code in Nanning?
The best rule to follow in Nanning (or anywhere in China) is modest is always better. It is definitely a conservative culture, and although Western trends are becoming more and more popular it is still frowned upon to be wearing something that brings any unneeded attention to you. The climate is very hot and humid so most of the time just one layer of clothing is needed. For those of you not from a sub-tropical climate and who don’t get cold when the temperature drops below 21C (69.8F) you will be fine without long-sleeve shirts or pants visiting Nanning anytime from Mar-Nov. However, Nanning weather has been known to have an unseasonably cold day in the summer, or hot day in the winter so you can never go wrong packing a pair of clothes to be ready for something like this.
