What would be a reasonable groundbreaking date for the garage?
Design of the garage and associated transit facilities should begin in late 2010. On April 15, 2010, the Town of Mansfield released two Requests for Qualifications for the parking garage and for the intermodal center. Firms have been shortlisted for design of both facilities with work to begin in fall 2010. Construction on the garage and intermodal center are planned to begin in 2011, assuming all necessary agreements are in place. A large part of the time required for garage construction is typically dedicated to the design and off-site manufacture of pre-fabricated concrete components. Materials are typically manufactured off-site over several months and then transported to the site for final construction.
